AISL Pre-K Benchmarks in Social Studies

- AISL.SST.01 HISTORY: Students will understand patterns of change and continuity, relationships between people and events through time, and the causes and effects of interaction among societies
- AISL.SST.01.PK.01 Identify common events and routines in the day, week, month and year
- AISL.SST.01.PK.02 Begin to categorize time intervals using concepts of growth and seasonal change
- AISL.SST.01.PK.03 Connect past events to current events (e.g., linking yesterday’s activity with what will happen today)
- AISL.SST.01.PK.04 Begin to understand cause-and-effect relationships (e.g., if one goes outside in the rain, one will get wet)
- AISL.SST.02 GEOGRAPHY: Students will understand the concepts of geography and how they contribute to the interaction between humans and natural and man-made environments
- AISL.SST.02.PK.01 Identify common features in the home, school, local landscape (e.g., the bedroom, the classroom, the playground, the buildings and street.)
- AISL.SST.02.PK.02 Create simple representations of home, school, or community through drawings or block constructions.
- AISL.SST.02.PK.03 Begin to use words to indicate relative location (e.g., front, back, near, far)
- AISL.SST.03 CIVICS AND GOVERNMENT: Students will understand why societies create and adopt systems of government and how these systems address human needs, rights, and citizen responsibilities
- AISL.SST.03.PK.01 Share ideas and take turns listening and speaking
- AISL.SST.03.PK.02 Cooperate with others in joint activities
- AISL.SST.03.PK.03 Identify and follow classroom rules
