AISL.MAT.01 Number Sense: Students will understand and apply numbers, ways of representing numbers, relationships among numbers, and number systems.
AISL.MAT.01.G8.01 Understand the relationships among equivalent number representations
AISL.MAT.01.G8.02 Understand the concepts of ratio, proportion, and percent and the relationships among them.
AISL.MAT.01.G8.03 Apply properties of real numbers (Order of operations, Laws of exponents, Closure)
AISL.MAT.02 Computation : Students will estimate, compute, and assess reasonableness of solutions.
AISL.MAT.02.G8.01 Understand exponentiation of rational numbers and root-extraction
AISL.MAT.02.G8.02 Use proportional reasoning to solve mathematical and real-world problems
AISL.MAT.02.G8.03 Understand the properties of operations with rational numbers
AISL.MAT.02.G8.04 Understand how different algorithms work for arithmetic computations and operations
AISL.MAT.03 Algebra: Students will use algebraic methods to represent, analyze, and solve problems
AISL.MAT.03.G8.01 Understand various representations of patterns and functions and the relationships among them.
AISL.MAT.03.G8.02 Solve simple inequalities and non-linear equations with rational number solutions, using concrete and informal methods
AISL.MAT.03.G8.03 Understand special values of patterns, relationships, and functions minimum and maximum values, x- and y-intercepts, slope, constant ratio or difference.
AISL.MAT.03.G8.04 Solve simple systems of equations graphically, and algebraically
AISL.MAT.04 Measurement: Students will estimate and measure accurately by using appropriate units, tools, and technologies.
AISL.MAT.04.G8.01 Understand the concepts of precision and significant digits as they relate to measurement
AISL.MAT.04.G8.02 Select and uses appropriate units and tools, depending on degree of accuracy required, to find measurements angles, perimeter, area, surface area, and volume.
AISL.MAT.04.G8.03 Develop strategies to find area, perimeter, volume of more complex shapes and selected prisms, pyramids and cylinders.
AISL.MAT.04.G8.04 Understand rates and other derived measurements to solve problems
AISL.MAT.05 Geometry: Students will apply the properties and relationships of geometric figures to represent, analyze and solve problems.
AISL.MAT.05.G8.01 Use co-ordinate geometry to represent and examine properties of shapes and their orientations
AISL.MAT.05.G8.02 Use geometric models to represent and explain numerical and algebraic relationships
AISL.MAT.05.G8.03 Understand the use of graphs of linear equations and functions to estimate solutions for real-world problems
AISL.MAT.05.G8.04 Understand the basic concept of the Pythagorean theorem and its converse
AISL.MAT.06 Data Analysis and Probability: Students will collect, organize, analyze, represent and interpret date in order to make decisions and predictions.
AISL.MAT.06.G8.01 Select and use the best method of representing and describing a set of data
AISL.MAT.06.G8.02 Use observations about differences/similarities between two or more samples to make conjectures about populations from where the sample was taken.
AISL.MAT.06.G8.03 Use conjectures to formulate new questions and plan new studies to answer them
AISL.MAT.06.G8.04 Compute probabilities for simple compound events
AISL.MAT.07 Problem Solving: Students will apply a wide variety of mathematical concepts, processes, and skills to solve a broad range of problems.
AISL.MAT.07.G8.01 Generalize from a pattern of observations made in particular cases, make conjectures, and provide supporting arguments for these conjectures
AISL.MAT.07.G8.02 Construct informal logical arguments to justify reasoning processes and methods of solutions to problems
