AISL Grade 1 Benchmarks in Mathematics

- AISL.MAT.01 Number Sense: Students will understand and apply numbers, ways of representing numbers, relationships among numbers, and number systems.
- AISL.MAT.01.G1.01 Count, read and write whole numbers to 100.
- AISL.MAT.01.G1.02 Compare and order whole numbers to 100 using the symbols for less than, equal, greater than, < = >.
- AISL.MAT.01.G1.03 Represent equivalent forms of the same number through the use of physical models, diagrams, and number expressions ( to 20) (e.g., 8 may be represented as 4+4, 5+3, 2+2+2, 10-2).
- AISL.MAT.01.G1.04 Count and group objects in ones and tens (e.g., three groups of 10 and 4 equals 34, or 30+4).
- AISL.MAT.01.G1.05 Identify and know the value of coins and show different combinations of coins that equal the same value
- AISL.MAT.02 Computation : Students will estimate, compute, and assess reasonableness of solutions.
- AISL.MAT.02.G1.01 Know addition facts (sums to 20) and the corresponding subtraction facts and commit them to memory.
- AISL.MAT.02.G1.02 Use the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction to solve problems.
- AISL.MAT.02.G1.03 Identify one more than, one less than, 10 more than, 10 less than a given number.
- AISL.MAT.02.G1.04 Count by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s to 100.
- AISL.MAT.02.G1.05 Show the meaning of addition (putting together or increasing) and subtraction (taking away or finding the difference).
- AISL.MAT.02.G1.06 Solve addition and subtraction problems with one and two-digit numbers (e.g., 50+40)
- AISL.MAT.02.G1.07 Find the sum of three one-digit numbers.
- AISL.MAT.02.G1.08 Make reasonable estimates when comparing larger or smaller numbers
- AISL.MAT.03 Algebra: Students will use algebraic methods to represent, analyze, and solve problems
- AISL.MAT.03.G1.01 Write and solve number sentences from problem situations that express relationships involving addition and subtraction.

- AISL.MAT.04 Measurement: Students will estimate and measure accurately by using appropriate units, tools, and technologies.
- AISL.MAT.04.G1.01 Compare the length, weight and volume of two or more objects us using direct comparison or a nonstandard unit
- AISL.MAT.05 Geometry: Students will apply the properties and relationships of geometric figures to represent, analyze and solve problems.
- AISL.MAT.05.G1.01 Identify, describe and compare triangles, rectangles, squares and circles including the faces of three-dimensional objects
- AISL.MAT.05.G1.02 Classify familiar plane and solid objects by common attributes such as color, position, shape, size, and number of corners
- AISL.MAT.06 Data Analysis and Probability: Students will collect, organize, analyze, represent and interpret date in order to make decisions and predictions.
- AISL.MAT.06.G1.01 Sort objects and data by common attributes and describe the categories.
- AISL.MAT.06.G1.02 Represent and compare data (e.g., largest or smallest) with bar graphs, tally charts and picture graphs
- AISL.MAT.07 Problem Solving: Students will apply a wide variety of mathematical concepts, processes, and skills to solve a broad range of problems.
