- AISL.ELA.01 READING-FLUENCY: Students will read fluently using the skills and strategies of the reading process.
- AISL.ELA.01.PK.01 Understand that print carries a message
- AISL.ELA.01.PK.02 Begin to match specific letters with specific sounds
- AISL.ELA.01.PK.03 Begin to understand how English language print is organized (i.e., moves from left to right, top to bottom and front to back)
- AISL.ELA.01.PK.04 Begin to recognize own name and familiar names and words in print (e.g., road signs, classroom labels, etc.)
- AISL.ELA.02 READING-COMPREHENSION: Students will comprehend, respond to, and analyze a wide variety of literary texts.
- AISL.ELA.02.PK.01 Select reading material (books, magazines, charts, etc.) based on personal criteria
- AISL.ELA.02.PK.02 Participate in group reading of story books, poems and songs

- AISL.ELA.04 WRITING-MECHANICS: Students will write using the appropriate conventions of the English language.

- AISL.ELA.04.PK.02 Form recognizable upper case letters and begin to write first name
- AISL.ELA.04.PK.03 Use letters (e.g., beginning and ending consonants) to represent words and to label pictures
